Hej everyone! My name is Madison Yardumian and I am studying abroad with DIS Copenhagen during the Spring 2020 semester.
A little about me: I am a junior at Scripps College in Claremont, California studying English and Politics. Though I’m acclimated enough to the Southern California sunshine to consider myself a novice at braving the elements, I actually grew up in Boston, Massachusetts.

Scripps College–isn’t she breathtaking?

In my free time, I love to read, write, drink copious amounts of caffeine, attempt to stay updated on the state of our government, and hang out with my family, friends, and two dogs!

Sophie!
My Core Course at DIS is Prostitution & the Sex Trade in Scandinavia. I hope this course will build upon the knowledge I’ve gained taking public policy courses I’ve taken at Scripps, and also, be a whole new adventure for me. I chose this course because I knew it was something I could only study here in Scandinavia. I also knew it would allow me to further explore my interest in Gender Studies (a discipline I haven’t engaged in at Scripps as much as I have wanted to) and ground my interest in politics in policy and practice.
Beyond my Core Course, I am also enrolled in Creative Writing Nonfiction, Criminology and Criminal Justice in Denmark, History of Sexuality in Europe and Introductory Danish!
I am staying with a host family in Birkerød, north of the metropolitan area–so stay tuned for posts about my Danish family!
During my semester abroad, I hope to volunteer, explore Danish cafe culture, visit as many European cities as my budget will allow, pick up some Danish, and explore all the natural beauty Denmark has to offer in addition to the colorful, quaint city that is Copenhagen.
